Parramatta Light Rail traffic changes on Macquarie Street, Parramatta CBD

30 April 2020

From 8pm Friday 1 May, Macquarie Street between Harris and Marsden Streets will be reduced to one lane of traffic (westbound only) as works to install new and relocate existing utilities commence for the Parramatta Light Rail.

In preparation for the traffic change, on-street parking will be removed. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

School pick-ups or drop-offs should no longer take place on Macquarie Street. Existing safe pick-up and drop-off locations on side streets, such as Charles Street and Barrack Lane, will not be affected by the works.

Works will include installing a temporary water main and pits, installing new aerial lights, demolishing a redundant electrical substation, installing a new waste water main, and installing new and relocating underground gas, communications and electricity services.

Traffic control will manage the road changes to ensure the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians around the work sites.

Transport for NSW understands this work may be disruptive and all efforts will be made to minimise impacts where possible.
