Upcoming changes in Parramatta CBD

27 January 2020

On Saturday 1 February 2020, Parramatta’s Church Street will permanently close to general traffic between Market and Macquarie Streets, including the ‘Eat Street’ dining strip, to allow for works to begin on the Parramatta Light Rail.  Mobile worksites and temporary hoardings will be established.

Traffic diversions will be in place with motorists encouraged to use Marsden and Smith Streets. The intersecting Phillip, George, and Macquarie Streets will remain open to traffic.

Parking will be permanently removed along Church Street from Market Street to Macquarie Street from Friday 31 January. Signage and traffic control will be in place to assist motorists, cyclists and pedestrians through the area.

From Saturday 1 February 2020, the free 900 Shuttle will take a modified route, running along George Street instead of Macquarie Street, one block north from its previous route. In addition, the shuttle bus will turn right into Villiers Street from Grose Street, heading south with a new stop at Prince Alfred Square, before turning left onto Phillip Street.
