Project wins Infrastructure Project Excellence Award

16 September 2022

The Parramatta Light Rail project was recognised for Infrastructure Project Excellence at the Australasian Rail Association (ARA) Industry Awards 2022, for its commitment to delivering positive community outcomes.

The project’s major infrastructure contractor, Parramatta Connect, used innovative approaches during major infrastructure works to minimise community disruption and accelerate works during periods of reduced traffic to improve outcomes.

In receiving the Award, the project was commended for delivering a significant legacy to meet the long term needs of the Parramatta community through a range of sustainability measures. These included NSW’s first state-of-the-art green track, a shared walking and bike riding path known as the Active Transport Link, heritage preservation measures and the use of re-used and recycled materials.

The 2022 Awards featured 16 categories recognising individuals, organisations and rail projects. ARA is the peak body for the rail sector in Australia and New Zealand and aims to support vibrant, sustainable and connected communities. Read the ARA media release.
