Upgraded Robin Thomas Reserve open to the community
Families and the community can now enjoy improved grounds at Robin Thomas Reserve, Parramatta, following the completion of upgrade works as part of the Parramatta Light Rail program.
Parramatta Light Rail Project Director Andrew Milne said that these improvements will allow the community to have safe access to better sporting facilities and green space that everyone can enjoy.
“I’m excited to see locals and visitors return to Robin Thomas Reserve to participate in leisure activities and enjoy the outdoor space,” said Mr Milne.
The improvements included reconfigured football fields, a new cricket pitch, goal posts, footpath, fences, pedestrian lighting and upgraded sports lighting, as well as landscaping. In the future, the ‘clubhouse’, or amenities building, will also be upgraded, and new park furniture will be installed.
Mr Milne said that these improved facilities match the increasing needs of the Parramatta area as more people come to Western Sydney to live, work and spend their time.
“Parramatta is a growing community and it’s now getting the best facilities to match the needs of the people who live or visit the area,” said Mr Milne.
The $2.4 billion Parramatta Light Rail will connect Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia, and is expected to commence services in 2023.
