Parramatta football fields upgrades kick off
Local football players will have access to new and improved sporting grounds at Robin Thomas Reserve, Parramatta, with an upgrade to begin this week as part of the $2.4 billion Parramatta Light Rail program of works.
Initial improvements to the fields will see reconfigured football fields, a new cricket pitch, goal posts, shelters, footpath, fences, pedestrian lighting and upgraded sports lighting, as well as landscaping. In the future, the ‘clubhouse’, or amenities building, will also be upgraded, and new park furniture and barbecue facilities installed.
Robin Thomas Reserve will be wire-free and will also feature “green track”, where grass and shrubs are grown in and around the light rail tracks, when the light rail commences services in 2023.
Robin Thomas Reserve will be a short walk away from the future light rail stop at Harris Street, Parramatta. This first phase of the improvement works is expected to take around three months.
